datepicker in popup window does not work

I am new to sahi. I have recorded script for my application. My application is only working in IE.
The product has the image as link to open date picker control. (when user clicks on it, it will open date picker control and the selected date from date picker will appear in the text box)
Here is the code from the recorded script:
_click(_image("calendarbutton.gif"));
_popup("calender")._click(_button("31"));
But i am getting below error:
Error in script: _popup("calender")._click(_button("31"));
Window/Domain not found: popupNameFromStep=calender; derivedName=; windowName=; windowTitle=Application Details; wasOpened=0; domain=
I put _wait(5000); between above 2 statements but it did not work.
Please suggest me some solution, I am struggling with past 2 days. I am getting frequently this error in my application.

Even we have datepicker in our application, but the recorded script looks like
_click(_image("Pick Date"));
and we were not able select a particular day, hence we kept that in try & catch and it worked.
here is the code
_setSelected(_select("MonSelect"), "Feb");
_setSelected(_select("YearSelect"), "1978");
try
{
_click(_link("10"));
}
catch(e)
{
}
I dont know if it will work for you by keeping this line of code _click(_button("31")); in try catch stmnt.
