Sahi Installation issues
Hi,
Followed the installations steps from the website.
D/l sahi-v35 from sourceforge and unzipped
started the sahi server
**Issue 1 : cannot set the lan settings in IE as we are using IE 7 and lan settings is grayed out. One of the website pages mentioned that the latest sahi version handles this step intrinsically
?? but it did not in this case as I cannot invoke the controller by alt - dblclk (which is in the sahi.properties)
I wish there is another way of invoking the controller instead of being dependant on the hotkeys
**Issue 2: I was able to set the connection settings in firefox but still am not able to invoke the controller there either.
Now, am going to try to use the jar directly in my java programs.
I have been evaluating tools for our 10 year automation project that has been in WR and QTP. Finished Selenium and Watij so far.
It would be great if I could start something with Sahi too as I have heard many good things about it.
Thanks!

usually it's enough to start firefox from the dashboard and start working.
Check the output of the sahi.bat...
You may have some proxy issues, please make sure sahi is listening on port 9999 and the firefox proxy settings are localhost:9999 and that the exclude-proxy field is blank.
You may try other hotkeys... ALT+SHIFT+DblClick is working with me, although I haven't added it to the configuration.
You may browse to http://sahi.example/_s_/dyn/SSLManager and add certificates for sahi.example and everything else needed.
Thats all I got for now... please provide more information about your sytem, the steps you did, error messages etc....
We'll get you through that :-) Nobody should have to miss Sahi :-)
After selecting the browser type - IE in this case, alt-ctrl-dbl click - does nothing except selects a few lines in that webpage.
Followed all applicable items in the troubleshooting steps: help-the-sahi-controller-does-not-come-up - no luck
what is wrong in my setup?
Tried to run the sample java project - DriverTestCase.java from Eclipse - still no luck. sahi.jar is added in the classpath
getting following error:
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NullPointerException
at net.sf.sahi.config.Configuration.getPropertyArray(Configuration.java:247)
at net.sf.sahi.config.Configuration.getScriptRoots(Configuration.java:234)
at net.sf.sahi.config.Configuration.main(Configuration.java:681)
but I may help u looking for errors:
Close the dashboard if opened.
Then please use cmd and "cd YOUR_SAHI_DIR/bin"
start the sahi.bat and watch the output... it should state listening on 9999
open firefox -> preferences -> advanced -> network
all proxy fields: localhost and 9999
exclude proxy needs to be blank! -> ok!
so go to any page... maybe STRG+F5... I the Sahi favicon displaying? can u open the controller with STRG+ALT+DblClick? Is there any popup blocker?
Iam in WinXP ;IE7;FF7;Sahi v3.5,no external proxy,no firewall, popblocker are all off
downloaded install..sahi.jar and installed it
changed the port to 9000 in sahi.properties and the same in FF
started sahi dashboard
select FF
cannot start the controller
after changing the port to 9999 in properties
now the driver_initialized page gets loaded
In this page - I can start the controller
enter googledotcom in the "Enter URL" field in the above page and getting - SAHI_ERROR message displayed
enter googledotcom in the address bar and the page is loading infinitely
id 981
Kindly use http://www.google.com instead of google.com in the Enter URL.
Check if this solves your issue.

Sahi Error - Connection timed out: connect
Sahi could not connect to the desired URL
This could be because "Iam not able to connect to Internet from Firefox(FF) even when sahi is not running. FF was working perfectly fine before installing Sahi.. will reinstall FF and see.
Sahi has been working fine in my home network. Able to connect to internet from FF and able to open controller and run some sample scripts from Java
Outstanding Issue:
Iam still not able to connect FF-Sahi from my work-network. The work-network doesnt use proxy. They use certificate to route to the internet. I have raised a ticket to get more specifics from the network admin team.
Meanwhile, wanted to check with Sahi team as to what could be done if the network is using certificates. What can I ask to the network team?
Windows XP, FF7.0.1,Sahi v3.5. -
