Issue with focus and highlight in IE 9/10/11

We are using Sahi v5.0 to automate few internal website.
Before every action (setValue, click) focus and highlight the elements, so that the page is correctly scrolled correctly. However there are few issues
1. At times focus takes almost 50 secs when time between steps is set to 100ms. This is way to high
2. Is there any better way to ensure that the page is scrolled so that the element is seen before performing any actions.
