why does sahi take so long between steps?

Have created a script to add 75 user accounts using the latest Sahi open source and IE10 and it has completed all the way through maybe 2 times out of 20. With the default sahi.properties file the time between each step in the script is about 2 minutes for some reason. So the script would take unbelievably long just to add these users which should only take a couple minutes. Eventually, most of the time it fails and I get this failed to complete in 150 seconds error. Why does it always for 2 minutes between steps? Why doesn't sahi know that a certain step has already completed? script.time_between_steps=100 so I would think the steps would not take 2 minutes each by default. Can someone help? Would really like to use this for my company but can't get it to reliably work for some reason. Thanks.
