Field is identifying as textarea and ajax framework related issue

Hi All,

I facing some problems with some ajax related fields in my application. Can some one gimme an idea?

I'm currently using sahi 2009-01-21 version and IE7.

A field in my application is being identified by sahi as "textarea" which is a ajax component.
On entering some data into it...a dynamic drop down list box will appear showing all the records available related to [or starting with] previously entered data.

I need to select a value out of that drop down list box and then continue with the execution.
My application has many such fields which are mandatory to fill as well.

But since it is a text area and sahi is not recognizing the dynamic drop down list box. Any suggestions on how to approach for this type of fields?

I tried to check if i can trigger keypress event on that list box of down arrow or tab but i'm not able to get any info on those..

Please let me know.

does it call any library functions to dynamically populate the drop-down (like yahoo libraries) ? If yes plz share the code snippet. It may help understand the implementation better.
In the meanwhile try putting some wait after putting the text in the text area that you are talking about.

Yea the field i mentioned is calling some functions when i checked up the html code of it

Sorry had posted solution for rich text editors.
I think we somehow need to put some wait befor the onblur happens.
looking into this... will revert back in case i can think of something

Any solution on the problem I posted?? Please let me know since this is very much critical for our application to choose a tool for testing..

For more info...the field i mentioned in the above page is very much similar to the ones in this page

In the page..there is a "Search" text box ..when entered a relavent value in it ..it displays all the values starting with them

Ex:

If i enter "Ban" in that text box then it display all the fields starting with "Ban" which we have to select either by pressing the Down Arrow on keyboard or using mouse...

I have similar fields in my application

The Wiki page works easily. Here is the script

_setValue(_textbox("searchInput"), "ban");
_click(_byId("searchInputResultText3"));

The only thing was that, I manually added the first step, since the dropdown appeared before the textbox was recorded.

Hey Narayan,

I checked in wiki....The field i mentioned in wikipedia page has id's for each of the item in the list box and hence it works fine with sahi..

But in my application am not getting any specific id's to capture the List box...Sahi recognizes them as
_cell(_table(53), 1, 1)

So there comes the problem for me...coz I believe every time the table id might get changed if any field gets added in the page.

I will mail you my application screen shot....and the way sahi identifies it...Hope you may get an idea about my application..

Looking at the code you sent me, it looks like the elements were part of list (LI tag) which Sahi did not recognize via the controller. I have added support for LI tags via _listItem API. Pick the latest nightly build with _listItem support from here: http://downloads.sourceforge.net/sahi/sahi_20090212.zip?use_mirror=

Please let me know if it works for you.

_listItem takes either the id or the visible text as its single parameter. Eg _listItem("visible text") or _listItem("myId").
