How can I open a new tab in firefox

Hi!
To test a feature of a site I'm working on I need my session to persist e.g. I need logged into a site on a tab in firefox which enables functionality within the same browser session to access another site on a seperate tab.
Does anyone know of a way of opening a new browser tab in firefox within a script?

    Have you tried running the scripts in a single browser session?

    We have the same question as well. What we need to automate is the payment via PayPal. In order to do that, we need to log into the PayPal sandbox account and leave it open on one tab and run the scripts in either another tab or a new browser window. The problem is Sahi controller allows only one browser instance at a time, which leaves us the only option on multi-tabs. Does Sahi work for multi-tabs and how?
